Hello

I'm Dr. Avraham J. Roos, a linguist, educator, and Torah enthusiast. Born in the Netherlands and now living in Israel, I've dedicated my life to teaching and exploring the deep connections between language, culture, and Jewish tradition. With decades of experience in both Torah and English education, I find joy in uncovering the hidden links between ancient texts and modern language.

My Story

I was born in 1965 in the Netherlands, where I began my journey as a student, educator, and leader in the Jewish community. My early years included serving as Head of Hadracha (Guidance) for Bnei Akiva Holland - a role that shaped my passion for teaching and community engagement. In 1991, I made aliyah to Israel, continuing my educational path in yeshiva high schools and later as a Jewish Agency shaliach (emissary) in Antwerp, Belgium, where I taught Tanach at Tachkemoni School from 2001 to 2004.

In 2022, I earned my Ph.D. in Cultural-Historical Linguistics from the University of Amsterdam, focusing on the English translations of the Pesach Haggadah - a topic that reflects my love for both language and Jewish heritage. Today, I lecture in English and Academic English at Herzog Academic College and Orot College, continuing to bridge worlds through words.

I live in Israel with my beloved family - six children and seven grandchildren - who are my greatest source of pride and inspiration.
